Reality v.s Online World
Hello friends. Thanks for tuning into my posts. It means a lot to me. I try to have authentic content and be real with the people reading. I’ve been busy documenting events and just had the most wonderful time at the Best Life Ever Tour featuring legendary David Avocado Wolfe and self love teacher Gillian Brown in Vancouver. I was blessed to be able to display my photos and be the official photographer of the event. I also had the privilege of having a media pass to a Ben Howard concert in Vancouver and re kindled my passion for live music photography.
I wanted to talk about an important topic to me. I have come to terms that as a photographer I will spending a lot of time on my computer and the online world. Mostly to get my message and product into the world. I battle with this back and fourth but I have found a great happy medium. If I didn’t believe in my message so deeply I can honestly say I wouldn’t use social media and spend time online. Because my message is positive and loving I see social media as a powerful tool to speak truths. I have always used my facebook page and instagram to show positive things happening in the world. The happy medium found its balance when I started to do a lot more farmers markets and vending at events around my area. It is a lot of time and effort but it is always worth it. From a artist and soul perspective as well as business perspective. Don’t get fooled and think you will gain peoples trust and respect from posts alone. You with gain trust and respect by being in the world. There is nothing better than standing behind your photos with pride and sharing them with the world. Shaking hands with people and receiving genuine compliments. This feeds my soul far deeper than posting online. However now that I do post more online those people who have met me now have a personal connection to me and it means more to the both of us. If they know me and I have earned ingegity face to face they are much more interested in investing in me and my art on a personal lever.
I don’t have any secret formula. I am a passionate person and love to document passionate people. This is always my intention and I know people feel it when we meet in person. I urge anyone who struggles with this to get out into the public and show their art no matter what it is with pride and honour. That feeling is the roots and foundation you must lay for your message to the world. Then utilizes the power of the online world to spread your message, earn income and round out your business.
If you don’t know where or how to start I would consider the local farmers markets. Your set up doesn’t have to be perfect just get into it and adapt along the way. Better is done than perfect and thats advice coming from a perfectionist. Set the roots and grow from there. Nothing happens over night and its truly the process you begin to fall in love with. You surrender to this and understand that your purpose will keep you going when you have doubt and if you truly love what you do you will always find the inspiration and it will actually give you energy.
As always I want to thank my West Coast family, Lindsay Renton my partner for keeping me healthy and focused, my parents, sister and brother in law. And to my niece and nephew… I take every step for you I love you so much you are my purpose.
Right now till October 15th I have a sale on all my prints on my website. Use the code promo25 for 15% off any order or prints. Love and Gratitude.
