Landscape Photography for Your Office
Landscape Photography for Your Office
Have you ever stared at a piece of art and felt momentarily lost in its narrative? Landscape photography has the power to shift the mood of any room (and person), which is why it tends to be a favourite when creating a positive office environment.
It’s no secret that today, the majority of individuals spend a large portion of their week behind a desk, workspace, or laptop. Whether you’re a masseuse, tech expert, or even a photographer like myself (believe it or not!), we can’t always enjoy every sunny day sitting beside a lake, or every snow day on top of a mountain catching the fresh powder as it descends from the clouds. We can, however, fall into a beautiful photograph that reminds us of what’s out there, just waiting for us after our busy work day is complete!

The main reason I love landscape photography is its ability to capture a photographer’s interpretation of a moment in nature. For example, if two photographers stand at the same point in front of the Mamquam River, their photographs would almost certainly look different: the natural elements they choose to highlight, the shades of light, composition, and the overall atmosphere they create with their final piece. When you’re sat behind a desk or standing at reception, a landscape photograph can transport you into a new world and has the power to enhance wellness and happiness: we feel as if we were there…looking across the horizon at the tip of an iceberg or running through a field of brightly flowering lupins. It’s also great for ‘setting the scene’ of our space. Here’s how:
- You Know How I Feel
Landscape photography is about creating a feeling. During work, we sometimes go hours without looking up from our screens, our clients, or taking a breath of fresh air outside. A photograph of a turquoise river or a vibrant green forest can create a peaceful atmosphere where people enjoy spending time throughout their day.
- She’s Got Personality
Art is a personal expression, and what better way to show your brand’s personality than your favourite landscape setting. It’s a great way to bring your clients along on a journey with you and create a positive first impression, start a conversation (about the place the photograph is taken or the way it makes us feel), and design an engaging workplace.
- Environment Starts Here
In British Columbia, we take pride in our houses, our gardens, and the land that surrounds us. But it’s also important that we take pride in our work environment. Just like creating a clean space develops a clean mind, the same goes for how we choose to decorate. The difference between staring at a plain white wall for eight hours and staring at a stunning photograph bursting with colour can be the difference between a positive and a stifled mind.

- Art is Our Story
The world is always changing and it has never been more important to support artists around the world. Without art, our world would be a much more boring place, and I’m not just saying this because I’m a photographer. It’s well-known and scientifically proven that creativity is good for our health, intelligence, and emotional wellbeing. Supporting creativity with art in the workplace can inspire both clients and colleagues in a number of different ways.
- Take A Break, You Deserve It!
Because what is landscape photography really about? Getting lost in another world…It helps us relax, restore energy, and most importantly, we connect to the image before us and it makes us feel happy. Just like a house plant can boost our mood and bring the outside world into our indoor environments, amalgamating the two together, so can a photograph of a dying sun, a rain-soaked mountain, or any natural climate.
